About Me
My name is Tracy Philomena Rutherford, I have been a qualified accountant since February 2004 and I have 10 years experience with businesses and accounts.
Previously working for my dad who owned a glass company I started work in the office doing general secretarial duties then progressed on to accounting duties, dealing with customer invoices, receiving payments and working with the ledgers. I enjoyed working with numbers and sorting out problems so much I decided to take the AAT accounting qualification. The experience I had gained working for my dad enabled me to join the course at the intermediate level and quickly progressed to technician level and thus passed with flying colours. I then further developed my skills by completing courses in sage accounts and payroll both manual and computerised. As my fathers business grew it developed from a sole trader to a partnership and from there into a limited company, this has given me experience with different types of business accounts.
Working for my dad has given me great knowledge with how businesses work from day to day,
with basic problems right through to budgeting forecasting right the year through. I feel I have
good experience in business accounts and first hand knowledge of how they work on a real day
to day basis.
I choose not to work in an accountancy practice because I enjoy working on a more personal level providing advice on a day to day basis. My clients know I am at the end of the phone if they have any questions and they can be assured they will not be charged for telephone support unlike a lot
of my larger competitors.
I have now decided to progress further and my goal is to specialise in taxation I am due to finish
my charted tax course towards the end of 2009.
